Overview

Issue 1: Difficulty Sending Invites

The primary problem with inviting crew members stems from a lack of visual hierarchy. Sending invites is a core function of the app, yet the invite button does not stand out, nor is it immediately clear that it serves that purpose. The current label, "The Crew and Invites," implies that invitations have already been sent rather than prompting users to take action.

To improve clarity, I propose one of two solutions:

  • Creating two distinct buttons: "Send Invites" and "The Crew."

  • Renaming the existing button to "Invite Your Crew" to make its function more intuitive.

Issue 2: Difficulty Finding the Itinerary

The itinerary button is not easily discoverable because it is positioned above the Notes section, while related buttons are placed below. This separation disrupts the visual flow, making it harder for users to associate the itinerary with the rest of the Trip Hub.

A possible solution would be to reposition the itinerary or Notes section. Removing the Notes section altogether could further enhance the itinerary’s visibility, integrating it more seamlessly into the interface.

As a UX/UI Design Intern at Let’s Jetty, a social travel planning app, I work closely with a collaborative product team to improve user experience through strategic redesigns and new feature integrations based on real user feedback. One of my key projects has been the reorganization of the Trip Hub page—an essential feature where users coordinate trip logistics with their travel group (the “crew”).

The Challenge

Despite its visually engaging design, the Trip Hub page presented major usability issues that impacted user efficiency and clarity. Our task was to enhance the usability and information hierarchy to streamline trip planning, focusing on two major user pain points:

Key User Pain Points

  • Difficulty finding where to send trip invites.

  • Difficulty locating the itinerary.

Figure 1 shows the current Trip Hub page. While its design is vibrant and engaging, it presents significant usability challenges.

To the right is figure 2, which is my first draft in a simple redesign of the trip hub page. This layout redesign effectively creates a sense of visual hierarchy between the trip hub’s functions and organizes them into their respective categories.

Another proposed solution to redesign the page is a drop down tabs stylization.

Outcome (In Progress)

We are currently iterating on wireframes in Figma based on internal feedback and user testing. The updated layout emphasizes visual hierarchy, reduces friction, and aims to create a more intuitive flow for planning trips collaboratively. Early prototype testing has already shown improved discoverability for both itinerary access and invitation features.
